Dr. Sangwani P. Ng’ambi

Sangwani Patrick Ng’ambi is an academic and Advocate of the High Court of Zambia. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from De Montfort University, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Cornell University and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the University of Leicester, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar. In addition, he is qualified to the Zambian Bar, having undertaken the Legal Practitioners’ Qualifying Examinations (L.P.Q.E.) at the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE). Since 2008 he has been a Lecturer of Law at the University of Zambia, where he teaches International Trade Law and International Investment Law. He has served as Head of Department – Public Law; as a Member of the Senate of the University of Zambia; Assistant Dean (Undergraduate); and as Assistant Dean (Research). He is a Research Fellow with the Southern African Institute for Policy and Research (SAIPAR).

Dr. Ng’ambi has been involved in a number of projects and consultancies. He was a Legal Consultant for the Southern African Trade and Investment Hub (SATIHUB), a project under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) which assessed Zambia’s trade laws and regulations. He was an International Legal Consultant with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on the Africa Sustainable Livestock 2050 (ASL) 2050 project, which covered the laws related to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and Zoonotic diseases. In this project he oversaw the research in FAO focal points in Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and Burkina Faso. Dr. Ng’ambi has also been the FAO National Legal Consultant in Zambia on the Zambia Aquaculture Enterprise Development Project (ZAEDEP), and the Project on Food Safety Legislation in Zambia.
