Japhace Poncian is a lecturer in Development Studies at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam. He also serves as Head Department of History, Political Science and Development Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at MUCE. He holds a PhD (Politics) from the University of Newcastle (Australia), an MA Global Development and Africa from the University of Leeds (UK) and a BA with Education (History and Geography) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He researches on community engagement in governance processes, extractive resources politics, energy politics and political economy of development. He has an emerging track-record of research published in reputable outlets including Energy Research and Social Science, Resource Policy, Extractive Industries and Society, Political Geography, Development Studies Research, Energy Policy, Local Government Studies, The African Review and Contemporary Justice Review.
