Japhace Poncian is a lecturer in Development Studies at Mkwawa University College of Education (MUCE), a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam. He also serves as Head Department of History, Political Science and Development Studies in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at MUCE. He holds a PhD (Politics) from the University of Newcastle (Australia), an MA Global Development and Africa from the University of Leeds (UK) and a BA with Education (History and Geography) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He researches on community engagement in governance processes, extractive resources politics, energy politics and political economy of development.
