University of Windsor
The University of Windsor is a comprehensive, student-focused university, with more than 16,000 students enrolled in a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs. Located in Ontario Canada, Windsor is home to a growing body of scholars recognized nationally and internationally for the significance of their contributions to the humanities; social, physical, environmental and biological sciences; business; law and human dignity; nursing; engineering; education; and the creative arts. Through these activities, we are advancing our understanding of the world around us, maximizing benefits to society, and enhancing quality of life today and tomorrow. Fostering sustainable industry is one of the university’s strategic research objectives. By collaborating with institutional, government and industrial stakeholders, the University of Windsor is making significant improvements to fundamental knowledge and understanding. Dr. Jesse Ovadia (co-applicant) joined the Department of Political Science in 2016 and currently serves as the Graduate Program Chair. Every year, the department gets high quality MA candidates joining from a variety of African countries, many of whom are interested in natural resources and development. As a result, Dr. Ovadia is launching a masters-level course in 2019 called ‘The New Scramble for African Resources’ which links his teaching and learning activities to his active research agenda. The university hosted a workshop on ‘Mobilizing Canadian Knowledge on Natural Resource-Based Development in Africa’ in September 2017, funded by Dr. Ovadia’s SSHRC Connection Grant.
